This location was previously a sand mining area intended for export to Singapore. Mining activities in the area—which is now known as Bukit Pasir Bintan”Bintan Sand Dunes” (located near Busung Village/area near Kuala Sempang, Bintan Regency). Araound 40 minutes from lagoi resort and 60 minutes from trikora resort area. Were stopped and the location was closed between the 1980s and the early 1990s (to be precise, operations stopped during the 1980s and ended completely in 1990) during the reign of President Soeharto.

Transformation into a Tourist Attraction: It was neglected for decades until rainwater formed a blue lake; Then, local residents began to manage this location independently as “Gurun Pasirt Telaga Biru”(Sand Dunes and Blue Lake) around 2017.
Although it was once a sand mining site, the “Sand Dunes & Blue Lake” has now become a premier destination in Bintan.
There are many great photo spots here; for instance, photos taken in the sand dune area can create the impression that you are in an African desert.
